The bond between Humans and Horses go back more than 5000 years. Our ancestors discovered that these four legged beasts were of more use than just a meal. These Hunters and Gatherer's survival depended on their keen observervation of the ways of nature. They understood that the Horse was different than other animals. It was larger than fox, wolf or deer and survived by eating only grass. The Horse was faster than the dog or bison and, if tamed, would carry a greater load, further and faster than any human could. Our ancestors also learned by observing the behavior of the Horse how to bend the will of these great beasts.

In the past five thousand years not much about the Horse has changed. In the past fifty years however, we have changed. We have forgotten how to observe the behavior, and more importantly, how to put this knowledge to use. Our interaction with these powerful 1000 lb creatures of instinct has digressed from a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship into something else. We treat our Horses as if they were an appliance or much worse, simply as a pet. We have lost the will to observe and communicate with our Horses.

As a result of our lack of commitment the Horse too has suffered greatly. There are too many ill mannered, poorly trained and frankly dangerous horses on the market today. Unfortunately there are also all kinds of gimmicks and trainers flooding the market now taking advantage of us. We fall prey to these gimmicks thinking that if we just spend money on our Horse we can have the Horse of our dreams.

Our motto, and our training philosophy, is Start 'em Right®. Training mistakes create problems that last a horse's life time. We don't train by forcing the horse. We teach the horse that there is a right way and a wrong way. If the horse does the right thing, life should be more comfortable than if he does the wrong.
We love our horses, but we don’t love “on” our horses. We believe that training starts from the moment before you lay eyes on your Horse until the moment after you walk away.

We believe an owner should be willing to make the commitment to provide for the long term health, welfare and training of their Horse. That means learning psychology, equine communication and doing what is right for the Horse. Wants and needs are often very different. While we don’t have all the answers we do have over four generations of Horsemanship knowledge and are willing to share that with our clients. We honor the tradition of that long forgotten first Horseman who tethered the first Horse and said, “Come, follow me.”
